Belarus is interested in the prospect of accessing Iran and the Persian Gulf through Armenia, President Alexander Lukashenko told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Minsk, according to the BelTA news agency.

He praised the Eurasian Economic Union–Iran free trade agreement, noting that it opens new markets for the participating countries.

"Iran is urging us to actively use the logistical routes through Russia and Iran—Russia, Armenia, Iran, and toward the Persian Gulf. They say we are the ones who need this the most," Lukashenko said.
