The Iraqi Minister of Oil is set to visit Turkey in the near future. He will discuss resuming oil exports through Turkey.

"I will soon visit Turkey to resume exporting oil to the Ceyhan port. The Ministry of Oil will auction a contract for fixing the Kirkuk-Fish Khabur pipeline," Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi told journalists in a press conference in the Kirkuk Provincial Council building.

The pipeline between Iraq and Turkey was damaged during ISIS' occupation of large swaths of Iraq.

The minister added that Iraq is open to everyone. Iraq and Iran formalized an agreement to export oil from Kirkuk to Kermanshah in Iranian Kurdistan in early January. In exchange, Iraq's south will receive an equal amount of fuel.

The Iraqi minister visited Kirkuk on Thursday, when he signed a memorandum of understanding with British Petroleum.

"The minister iterated the commitment of the ministry in developing the oil fields of Kirkuk in an effort for opening a new page in North Oil Company's work in increasing the production level," said al-Luaibi in a statement published on the ministry's official website.

BP will carry out surveys and scans for the purpose of increasing production in Kirkuk's oil fields to 750,000 bpd.
