TURKISH ECONOMY MINISTER MEETS NORTHERN IRAQ MINISTER
23.01.2013
World Bulletin, January 24, 2013 "I completely agree with Mr. Celebi that we need to take an urgent step for the third bridge project over the Habur River," Caglayan noted. Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan on Wednesday met with the Industry and Trade Minister of the regional administration in north of Iraq, Sinan Celebi in the Turkish capital of Ankara. Speaking to reporters while meeting Celebi, Caglayan stressed that the Habur Border Gate, through which 3,500 vehicles pass in a single day and which has a trade volume of 13 billion USD, was not sufficient. "I completely agree with Mr. Celebi that we need to take an urgent step for the third bridge project over the Habur River," Caglayan noted. We are pleased to notice that the cities of northern Iraq have reached prosperity, Caglayan stated. The region exports 250,000 barrels of oil per day and offers opportunities to Turkish companies, Caglayan noted. "Turkey has always been in favor of the territorial integrity of Iraq. We want Iraq to reach political stability as early as possible," Caglayan stressed. Celebi, in his part, indicated that they were also always in favor of the territorial integrity of Iraq. We do hope that Iraq reaches political stability soon, Celebi noted. "The main gate of the regional administration in north of Iraq and our direction is Turkey. Turkey is a successful model for us. Our traditions resemble each other. We lived together for a thousand years. We want to live the next thousand years together in the best way possible," Celebi underlined.
