The First Deputy Speaker of Iraq's House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed on Thursday that the Zionist preoccupation with Iraq came after the impact of effective diplomatic efforts in regional and international forums. At the same time, he pointed out that the Zionist complaint against Iraq and talk of intentions to target it proves the entity's thirst for blood and destruction in the region.

Al-Mandlawi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The complaint filed by the terrorist Zionist entity in the Security Council against Iraq, and the pressures it exerted diplomatically and in the media on Baghdad, leading to talk of an Israeli military strike, and coinciding with the diplomatic efforts of the Iraqi parliament and government in regional and international forums to stop the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, are nothing but efforts to continue the killing and destruction in the region, and evidence of the brutality of this entity and its thirst for blood."
