ROUNDTABLE MEETING ENTITLED “REFORMS IMPLEMENTED IN THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC IN RECENT YEARS AND FOREIGN POLICY PRIORITIES” HELD AT AVIM

A roundtable meeting entitled “Reforms Implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic in Recent Years and Foreign Policy Priorities” was held on 20 October 2026 at the Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM), in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ankara. The meeting, featuring H.E. Ruslan Kazakbaev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Türkiye, as the keynote speaker, addressed the reforms implemented in Kyrgyzstan in recent years, the country’s foreign policy priorities, Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan relations, and recent regional developments in Central Asia.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kazakbaev highlighted the political and economic reforms undertaken in Kyrgyzstan and discussed the country’s approach to regional and international cooperation. In this context, he addressed Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan relations, the Cholpon-Ata Summit, the World Nomad Games, high-level diplomatic engagements with Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, China, and Pakistan, as well as developments concerning the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Bishkek. The importance of economic relations and investment cooperation between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan was also emphasized.
The meeting was attended by representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, academics, and experts. During the subsequent discussion, participants exchanged views and assessments on Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy orientations and regional dynamics in Central Asia.
AVİM continues its efforts to promote the examination of political, economic, and diplomatic developments across Eurasia from a scholarly and analytical perspective. In this regard, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss recent developments in Kyrgyzstan through firsthand diplomatic insights and contributed to fostering dialogue and the exchange of views between academic circles and diplomatic representatives.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks by Ambassador (R) Alev Kılıç, Director of AVİM, followed by the presentation of a commemorative plaque to H.E. Ruslan Kazakbaev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Türkiye.
