Iraq and the United Kingdom reached a new agreement to expedite the repatriation of migrants who do not have legal status in the country.
The agreement strengthens an earlier collaborative effort to combat smuggling groups and discourage individuals from crossing the English Channel in tiny boats.
Over 27,000 individuals have undertaken the perilous voyage in 2025, up from almost 18,000 in the same period in 2024, according to the BBC.
