The Armenian Foreign Ministry has announced an upcoming visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, as Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan directs the state agencies to rebuild ties with Moscow and engage in joint initiatives amid “recent geopolitical changes.”

The ministry has yet to confirm an exact date, but spokesperson Ani Badalyan noted that further details will be disclosed closer to the time of the visit, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

The trip comes at a sensitive moment for Russia-Armenia relations. In a January meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Moscow, Lavrov acknowledged that 2024 had posed significant challenges for bilateral ties. Nevertheless, he reaffirmed Moscow’s interest in deepening cooperation with Yerevan. Despite ongoing collaboration with Russia, Armenia has recently taken steps to broaden its foreign policy orientation.
