The Ömer Engin Lütem Conference Series:

The Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) is a think tank that advances academic discussions on the 1915 events and the Turkish-Armenian conflict through its scholarly research. These studies are approached from historical, legal, and sociological perspectives, creating an intellectual platform with participants ranging from academics to diplomats. One of AVİM's most significant initiatives is the “Ömer Engin Lütem Conferences,” held annually since 2018.

These conferences were launched to honor the legacy of AVİM’s founder and honorary president, the late Ambassador Ömer Engin Lütem, following his passing. The events, enriched by contributions from experts, researchers, and diplomats, have fostered an extensive academic repository on Turkish-Armenian relations. What began in 2016 as the "Armenian Conferences" transitioned into a prominent scholarly series, with the publication of books in 2017 on themes such as "Genocide Claims and Related Discourses," earning a notable place in the academic community.

In 2018, the series entered a new phase under the name “Ömer Engin Lütem Conferences,” continuing to shed light on various aspects of Turkish-Armenian relations. Since then, the content of these conferences has been compiled under headings such as "On the Turkish-Armenian Dispute" and "Seeking Solutions," contributing to the academic literature as scientific publications.

As of 2025, we are pleased to announce a new phase for these important events. The "Ömer Engin Lütem Conferences" will now be overseen by an academic editor registered with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and guided by a distinguished Scientific Board. This transition aims to further enhance the academic quality of the conferences and expand their international reach. With strengthened academic responsibilities and enriched scientific content, these conferences will continue to contribute to the understanding of Turkish-Armenian relations.
